A gift guide from MiniGiftsLaserUK.
A good colleague gift starts with something you know about the person. Do they quietly keep the team organised, make you laugh through a busy shift, or always find time to help? Choose a message that reflects that relationship, then add a personal detail where the design allows it.
This guide brings together practical ideas for a leaving day, a thank-you or an office Secret Santa, using engraved slate gifts from our UK collection.
For the colleague who always helps: a Difference Maker coaster
If you want to recognise someone’s kindness or support, a simple thank-you can be more fitting than an office joke. Our personalised Difference Maker slate coaster combines a definition-style design with their name.
It suits a helpful workmate, mentor or team member. Think about what you want the gift to say: appreciation for a particular project, support during a difficult week, or a thank-you as they move to a new role. A short handwritten card can explain the moment behind your choice without changing the engraved design.
For the person who keeps everything running
Some people make a team work without being the loudest person in the room. They remember details, organise the handover or help everyone stay on track. The Behind Every Great Team Is You coaster is an option for recognising that contribution.
This can work for a team leader, administrator, manager or colleague. Choose it because the message fits the person, rather than simply matching their job title.
For a work friend who is leaving
A leaving present does not have to be large to feel personal. A useful desk gift can be a reminder of the people they worked with, especially when you choose wording they would enjoy seeing every day.
Browse the personalised Coworker slate coaster or our wider colleague and leaving gift collection. If several people are contributing, agree on the recipient’s preferred name and the spelling before ordering.
For an office Secret Santa: match the humour to the person
Start with the exchange’s spending limit and check whether that limit includes delivery. Then decide whether the recipient would prefer a warm message or a funny one. If you do not know them well, a friendly design is usually easier to choose than a joke about their habits or workload.
Our Christmas gift collection includes slate coasters for colleagues, friends and family. Check the individual product’s current price and personalisation options before deciding. Allow for preparation as well as delivery when ordering for a gift-exchange date.

For a colleague with a favourite drink or hobby
When you know a little more about the recipient, their interests can guide the choice. A drinks-themed design might suit someone who enjoys a tea break or a favourite evening drink. A hobby-themed gift can show that you remembered something they enjoy outside work.

What to check before ordering a personalised coaster
- The wording: check the product photos and description. Adding a name does not mean that every part of the design can be changed.
- The shape: square and round options are available on selected listings; choose the option you want before adding the item to your basket.
- The name: enter spelling, punctuation and capitals exactly as required. For different names, add each personalised item separately.
- The quantity: check whether you are selecting an individual item or a set. Do not assume that everything shown in a styled photograph is included.
- The material: natural slate varies in texture and edges, so pieces will not look completely identical.
- The date: check preparation and delivery information before ordering for a leaving party, birthday or Secret Santa.
